Manufacturing Cost and Reliability?based Shape Optimisation of Plate Structures

A novel methodology is presented for the manufacturing cost and reliability-based optimization of plate structures with boundary element method (BEM), aim improving accuracy, robustness, efficiency aircraft structures. The BEM formulations respect to thickness are derived first time, used as part an implicit differentiation (IDM), enabling full shape BEM. These derivatives validated against obtained from finite difference (FDM) analytical solution. Results indicate that IDM more robust than FDM in excellent agreement solution, accurate most step-sizes investigated. To demonstrate plates newly developed IDM, a numerical example involving design structure. show efficient when performing this optimization.
